Morad Mostafa’s short films have screened at over 300 festivals, among them Clermont-Ferrand, Locarno, and Cannes. His protagonists include a Sudanese henna artist tasked with adorning a bride for her wedding; a young mother, alone with her child, who feels like a stranger in her own life; and a teenager who does everything in his power to keep a promise. The camera follows them through space, through the city, through a tangle of changing moods and challenges. We are showing three of Mostafa’s short films as well as «I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face» by his colleague Sameh Alaa, which Mostafa selected. In conversation, he will explain his choice.
