For the opening of the 30th festival edition, we return to Theater Winterthur, where Dino Brandão and his crew reinterpret the award-winning documentary «I Love You, I Leave You» (Switzerland 2025) by Moris Freiburghaus in a music and dance performance. Kartell Mukanda is a celebration of connection – between different forms of expression and different people.

Outdoor Cinema in the Neighbourhood

From Alte Kaserne to Theater Winterthur to our current homebase at Lagerplatz – we’ve been calling Winterthur home for 30 years. To celebrate our bond with the city, we’re bringing short films into neighbourhoods. Join us for two screenings under the night sky and discover fascinating, gripping, and amusing gems from Zurich’s film scene.

Among them is young, ambitious Maja as well as old, seasoned mini-golfer Jörg. The competition for a place on the podium requires both steady nerves and the right equipment.

If there’s one thing farmer Olga loves more than her pet pigs, it’s a pork chop.
When the pigs she butchers find that they can still influence events on the farm after their deaths, a vicious circle begins.

City people set off into a warm late summer night. Glances meet in a library. During their workout, two men discuss where to buy love. A couple is kissing intimately. She bites him. As soon as he has bought a match, a better offer calls. Doubts arise. A couple explains themselves in therapy. At breakfast, his match chews her egg so loudly that he freezes in disgust. The electrifying looks in the library lose their power. Full of hope, they wander into the unknown.

A Wall Is a Screen in Zurich and Winterthur

We’re partnering with A Wall Is a Screen Hamburg for a cinematic stroll through town. A Wall Is a Screen transforms façades and other structures into screens, offering an original, thought-provoking, and entertaining new perspective on your hometown. Only the starting point is known in advance, whereas the films and other locations will be a surprise.
