In the European art tradition, the term «still life» refers to images of inanimate or motionless objects. These short films experiment with motifs and elements of still lifes, using objects as metaphors to explore the boundaries of life and death, transience and movement. The resulting stories point far beyond themselves.

In 15th-century Portugal, a group of monks built a wall around a forest and prevented the entry of women. But the hands of the living cannot control everything: in the invisible world, where night reigns and only souls light up the forest, women have built their kingdom of invisibility, without walls.

A bewitching exploration of the totemic power of the souvenirs seafarers brought home for their partners, after long stretches sailing to the furthest reaches of the Earth. Starting from a documentary observation, the boundaries of outer and inner reality become blurred over the course of the film. Individual souvenirs as fetishized objects turn into unified ornaments as the point of view shifts from the individual to the collective.
